Shehu Sani speaks on school reopening, criticises FG on role

The uniform reopening of schools across the country as a result of the second wave of the deadly coronavirus has been faulted by former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani.
Shehu Sani in his opinion said the issue should be left to states to decide because each of them has different infection rates. He disclosed this on his Twitter page on Monday, January 18.
According to him, the government is confused about how to tackle the second wave.

He said:
"Reopening schools and other #COVID19 regulatory measures should be a matter for the states and not the FG; the 36 states including FCT have different infection rates. There is evident confusion on how to tackle the second wave."
Legit.ng also reported that Sani lamented the killing of 18 policemen in Katsina. He described the incident as tragic and unfortunate.
He went further to say that despite the multiple operations launched against them, bandits continue to carry out their hideous and nefarious activities in the country.
Sani consequently wondered that if the police in Nigeria are not safe, then who else is safe.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Sani proved himself again to be a dyed-in-the-wool critic of the federal government.
He gave a closer look into the government's planned $400 billion allocation for the COVID-19 vaccine and discovered faults in it. According to the former federal lawmaker, the entire proposal may end up another waste of public funds because of the conditions required for the preservation of the vaccine.
Sani also advised the Nigerian government to make provisions for storage facilitates before getting COVID-19 vaccines.
The ex-senator also called for the provision of emergency power supply which was one of the things necessary for the preservation of the vaccines.
He noted that the fridge needed for the preservation of the vaccines was not the normal one around.
