It was gathered that the train has broken down severally in the past leaving passengers stranded, disrupting their travel plans, and also exposing them to undue security risks.

Less than three months ago a new train from China broke down. As a result of this, the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, apologised to Nigerians.

The breakdown on the Abuja-Kaduna rail locomotives occurred between November 18 and 20. Amaechi made the plea at the Moniya rail station during the routine inspection of the rail project in Ibadan.

According to him, it is too early for such breakdown to occur and it will be better for the old locomotives to be installed if this is how it will continue to play out.
