Meanwhile, Sky Sports report that United almost gave up on their chase for the left-back after their initial offer was said to have been rejected with the Portuguese outfit insisting on selling him for £22.5m.
The Old Trafford outfit has however confirmed the deal on their official website, welcoming the Brazilian star with European experience to their fold.
Telles scored 26 goals and registered more than 50 assists in 195 appearances in the last five seasons for Porto.
He has also clinched League titles in Portugal, and also in Turkey while representing Galatasaray, and he said while reacting to his recent move to England:
"To join a club with the prestige of Manchester United is a huge honour. You have to work hard to get to this moment in your career and now I am coming to this club, I can promise that I will give everything in my heart to be a success here.
“I won many trophies at FC Porto and I want to continue that at United. The manager has a clear plan and direction for this team and I can’t wait to pull on the famous shirt.”
Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also added that his new arrival is a winner and will contribute immensely to the success of the club.:
“First and foremost, I welcome Alex to United. He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for. He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.
“Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United suffered one of their heaviest defeats in recent seasons after losing 6-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday, October 4.
The loss also reflects that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are not ready to contend for any title after a shambolic display in the game.
Despite taking the lead through Bruno Fernandes inside the second minute, the home side capitulated after Spurs restored parity moments later through Tanguy Ndombele.
