Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has finally reacted to the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s governorship primary.
Legit.ng notes that Wike spoke a day after receiving Obaseki at the Rivers state Government House.
Though the two governors did not disclose what they discussed at the Government House on Sunday, June 14, Wike has taken to his official Twitter handle on Monday, June 15, to comment on the development.
"Obaseki was disqualified by someone who doesn't have a certificate, what an irony!" Governor Wike tweeted.
Many Nigerians on Twitter have been reacting to the Rivers state governor's allegation.
HENRY Okelue said: "How can you say Jonathan Ayuba, a whole professor does not have a certificate?"
Success Mark said: "That's what Nigeria politics is all about, those that have certificate serves those that doesn't have. Corrupt government"
Sir Ferdinand Rogers said: "Oshiomohle studied in Oxford College. he is more Educated than you, Obaseki and Atiku combined. You can't even stand in a debate, talkless of talk show."
Legit.ng had earlier reported that Governor Obaseki was disqualified from contesting in the APC primaries for the Edo state governorship election.
The chairman of the screening committee, Professor Jonathan Ayuba, announced on Friday, June 12, that Obaseki and two other aspirants were disqualified from the primaries.
According to Ayuba, one of the reasons why the Edo governor was disqualified is that he presented a Higher School Certificate which was not in existence.
Another reason given by the panel is that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate presented by the governor did not have his name written properly.
The committee said based on the above-raised issues, Obaseki is not qualified to contest for the party primary scheduled for June 22.
In a related development, Timi Frank has called on Governor Wike to prevail on PDP leaders to accept Governor Obaseki of Edo state as their governorship candidate.
Frank who is a former chieftain of the APC said Obaseki remains the best option for the Peoples Democratic Party if it truly wants to take over Edo state.
Frank urged Wike to make those against Obaseki's defection to see reasons why the Edo governor should be given a chance.
He warned that the PDP may lose the forthcoming governorship election if it refuses to accept Obaseki as its candidate.
