The inaugural edition of the award was held last year, while the second edition will be held amid the COVID-19 lockdown in order to continue encouraging small businesses across the country.

In a bid to encourage the entrepreneurs, President Muhammadu Buhari will address them at the award ceremony.

For this year’s MSME clinic award, all award recipients and other participants and guests will join the event via video conference from different locations across the country.

The portal for the nomination of MSMEs for the 2020 MSMEs Awards shall open on Monday, June 1, for a period of 4 weeks, and all registered MSMEs in the country can be nominated or nominate themselves in the different categories of the awards.

According to Johnson, every MSME qualifies for the award as long as the business is registered with a Corporate Affairs Commission and tax identification number.

The award this year would be held on Thursday, July 16 and would be virtual.
