Covid-19: 3 medical doctors in Lagos test positive for Coronavirus

- Three doctors in Lagos state have been infected with coronavirus as confirmed by the Medical Guild

- According to the association, the doctors are getting full support and are stable at different isolation centres

- The guild has, therefore, instructed all its members to start attending to all people as likely Covid-19 patients and should do so with PPE

The Medical Guild has said that three health workers have tested positive for coronavirus at the Alimosho General Hospital and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja. The affected people are also their members.

Dr Oluwajimi Sodipo and Dr Ismail Ajibowo, the chairman and secretary of the guild made this known on Thursday, April 23, on the association’s Instagram account, The Guardian reports.

It should be noted that the Medical Guild is a body of doctors under the employ of the Lagos state government.

The guild’s chief officials also said the affected officials are undergoing treatment at different health facilities for Covid-19 in the state.

They added that the health officials are stable and the association is giving them the needed support.

It should be noted, that according to the group, doctors at the Alimosho General Hospital, Ikorodu General Hospital, Lagos General Hospital and LASUTH were exposed to coronavirus.

Tests are therefore being carried out in those places to ascertain those that are infected by the new development.

The medical leaders advised all health officials without PPEs to stop attending to patients as a way of protecting themselves.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Oluwaseun Ayodeji Osowobi, a coronavirus survivor, has shared a powerful message on the disease in a short video by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

In the short clip, the Covid-19 survivor told people that being negative does not give them the right to stigmatise those that are positive for the virus.

She said that when she tested positive, it was quite a shock and she had to struggle to accept her reality.

Oluwaseun added that despite the fact there is so much information on how to protect oneself, nothing quite prepares one for the emotional hit when one's test comes back positive.

She assured anyone who is admitted at one the isolation centres for coronavirus that they are getting the best of care. She said that if she could survive, they too can.
