Coronavirus: Atiku prays for Abba Kyari after testing positive for COVID-19

Atiku in a tweet on Tuesday, March 24, said his thoughts and prayers were with the president’s chief of staff.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari. Allah ya kare mu gabaki daya, kuma ya bashi lafiya. –AA,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari's chief of staff, has reportedly gone on self-isolation after testing positive to coronavirus (Covid-19).

The president's chief of staff was reported to have attended a meeting on Saturday, March 21, in Aso Rock where he began to cough repeatedly and decided to be tested for the virus.

Since the confirmation of his Covid-19 status, Kyari has gone on self-isolation for treatment, though Daily Sun reports that he self-isolated himself in his home instead of Isolation Centre in Gwagwalada.

Kyari's case, according to the publication, has reportedly plunged Aso Rock into fear considering his closeness to the president and his influence in decision making.

Although President Buhari tested negative after his test on Monday night, March 23, Kyari's situation has sent cold water into the spine of officials at the Aso-Rock.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has now directed those with established contact with the chief of staff to also self-isolate.

In another report, Akin Abayomi, the Lagos state commissioner of health Akin Abayomi has announced that attendees of the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2020 may have come in contact with someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.

In his tweet, the commissioner for health said some of the attendees were exposed to the infection.

Still on health, the presidential villa is said to be apprehensive over interaction with Governor Mohammed Bala of Bauchi state who admitted to having interacted with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.

The governor who is in self-isolation said he had contact with the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar’s son. Atiku had recently told the world his son tested positive for COVID-19.

According to The Sun, Mohammed had attended the Nigeria Governors’ Forum meeting presided over by Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state which lasted till almost midnight.

The report stated that many top government officials including governors, deputy governors among others were present at the meeting.
