Kiki Mordi under fire over pro-women tweet

- Famous BBC journalist, Kiki Mordi, was brought under fire on Sunday, March 8

- This came after Mordi reacted to a message by a new generation bank which celebrated the International Women's Day with its female customers

- A lot of persons on social media slammed the journalist for coming too hard on the financial institution and for being too feminist in her tone

A well-known British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) journalist, Kiki Mordi is facing terrible heat from Nigerian social media subscribers after her controversial feminist tweet on Sunday, March 8.

Mordi's tweet was in reaction to an International Women's Day message sent by a new generation bank in Nigeria to promote gender equality and regard for females especially in the country.

The financial institution, in its message, spoke on the need for the education of the girl child in the family and in society in general.

However, in reaction to this, the journalist referred to the message as being offensive and clueless, implying that the bank knows nothing about gender-sensitive writing.

She, therefore, called on women to stop funding what she described as patriarchy and urged them to cease from patronising the bank.

For this, Mordi has been given serious tongue-lashing from a lot of persons on social media who believe that she went too far in her criticism of the bank.

Many on Twitter feel that the journalist has viewed the whole thing as a battle of the sexes, adding that it would have been better for her if she had remained silent.

Some other person said that the call for equal opportunities for men and women does not give Mordi the right to insult anyone or speak with pride.
