Oshiomhole's suspension: APC appoints Ajimobi, Bulama, Chukwuma as new national officers

- Hours after Oshiomhole's suspension, the APC has announced new NWC members

- The NWC approved the nominations of Abiola Ajimobi as the deputy national chairman (South) and Paul Chukwuma as the national auditor

- Waziri Bulama's nomination as the party’s acting national secretary was also approved by the NWC

Shortly after the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the nomination of Waziri Bulama as the party’s acting national secretary.

The Nation reports that the committee also approved the nominations of Abiola Ajimobi as the deputy national chairman (South) and Paul Chukwuma as the national auditor.

Legit.ng gathers that the announcement was contained in a statement released by the party’s national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Wednesday night, March 4.

Also on the same development, Premium Times reports that the deputy national chairman of the party in the northeast, Salihu Mustapha, raised questioned the nomination of Waziri as the party’s acting national secretary.

He alleged that a meeting held to determine who would occupy the position ended without any decision.

However, the statement by Issa-Onilu said the decision to appoint Waziri as the party’s national secretary by the NWC was reached in January during the meeting of the NWC.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Oshiomhole was on Wednesday suspended as the national chairman of the ruling APC by a Federal Capital Territory high court in Jabi.

Following the development, the (former) acting national secretary of the APC, Chief Victor Giadom, has said the ruling party will respect the court order suspending Oshiomhole.

Giadom in his reaction told newsmen the party will abide by the order.

However, Oshiomhole has filed for a stay of execution of action over the interim order suspending him as the national chairman of the APC.

Simon Egbebulem, chief press secretary to Oshiomhole said the chairman has filed for a stay of execution and appealed the ruling.

He also added that the legal team of Oshiomhole is studying the matter.

Oshiomhole's suspension, as expected, has sparked up heated arguments and reactions from Nigerians on social media.

Lekan Adigun wrote on Twitter: "I'm beginning to think the Courts are assuming the powers they don't have. Judges will soon start arrogating to themselves the powers to appoint party chairs. The powers to discipline party officers are internal displinary mechanisms!"

Oloye Ayo Gbadebo wrote: "After suspending oshiomhole,COURT should extend that COURTesy to the S/W too. Abi he no touch party leader ni?Face with tears of joy. High court pls, Suspend everybody danu, they are not doing well jare."

Osirmah commented: "Can’t wait for Adams oshiomhole to give his own interpretation of the court suspension."
