Osinbajo to represent Nigeria at former Kenya president's funeral

- Osinbajo will be representing Nigeria during the funeral of former president Daniel Arap Moi of Kenya

- According to Laolu Akande, the event will hold at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi

The burial of former president Daniel Arap Moi of Kenya will be attended by Nigeria's vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.

Osinbajo will be representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the state funeral in Nairobi on Wednesday, February 12.

This was disclosed by Laolu Akande, senior special assistant on media & publicity to the vice president.

Osinbajo will join other African heads of state and world leaders expected at the occasion.

The occasion is scheduled to hold at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Nigeria's number 2 citizen will be accompanied on the trip by senior government officials.

The Nigerian president described the late president as a frontline nationalist.

In a condolence message through Femi Adesina, to the Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, and the nation, Buhari said the late Moi gave his best for the development of his country.

Buhari also praised the former president. He noted that he was a key factor in the stability of the East African region and Africa in general.

Buhari consequently urged the people of Kenya to uphold the ideals of love, peace, progress, unity, and loyalty the late statesman stood for.

While he prayed for the late politician’s soul as Kenya mourns, President Buhari further called on other African leaders to emulate Moi’s virtues.
