Breaking: APC suffers defeat in Bauchi as Supreme Court affirms Governor Muhammed's election

- Supreme Court has affirmed Bala Muhammed as authentic governor of Bauchi state

- The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of APC, Mohammad Abubakar

- Judges held that the appellant failed to prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt

Amid protest by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja over the sacking of Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state by the Supreme Court, the apex court has affirmed the election of Bala Muhammed as the governor of Bauchi state.

Vanguard reports that Muhammed, who is a candidate of PDP, was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of governorship election held in the state on March 9, 2019.

Legit.ng gathered that Supreme Court dismissed an appeal marked SC/1502, which the immediate past governor of the state and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mohammed Abubakar, filed to challenge the outcome of the governorship election.

Justice Mohammed Dattijo who delivered the lead judgement, held that the appellant failed to demonstrate the perversity in the concurrent findings of the Bauchi state governorship election tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Jos.

According to the report, other members of the seven-man panel of justices concurred with the lead judgement.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Supreme Court, on Monday, January 20, affirmed the election victory of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as authentic winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship poll in Sokoto state.

It was reported that the members of the team of justices led by Sylvester Ngwuta all agreed with the judgement in favour of Tambuwal.

Reading out the lead judgement on the case, Justice Uwani Abba-Aji said on behalf of the Supreme Court that the evidence presented against Tambuwal by Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was of no value.
