- Music producer Samklef has joined others that have criticised rapper MI over his tweets about Wizkid and Akon
- Samklef while noting his disappointment at MI noted that Akon is not his mate
- Internet users, however, had mixed reactions about the music producer’s take
Rapper MI Abaga recently caused a buzz in the online community, following his reaction to a post by international musician, Akon.
Akon had shared a post celebrating Nigerian music star Wizkid, and referred to him as his ‘little brother’.
MI, however, quoted the tweet and noted that Akon should not be referring to Wizkid as his younger one.
His response, however, led to a heavy backlash on social media, as many noted that Akon was well within his rights to refer to the Nigerian singer as such because he was older than him by age and even in his achievement as a musician.
Among those that berated MI for his tweet is popular music producer, Samklef. The producer pointed out that he was completely disappointed by the rapper’s take, while noting that Akon is not his mate.

Still in a related story, Legit.ng reported that MI while defending his tweets, made it clear that Africans in diaspora did not play a major role in Wizkid’s success. He said as a strong fan of the Joro crooner, he does not see him as a younger bro to any artist, because of the obstacles he has managed to overcome.
