President Buhari says the judicial process is too slow for him

President Muhammadu Buhari has complained about what he described as the slow pace of the judicial process in prosecuting corruption cases in the country.

The Nigerian president made the statement on Tuesday, December 17, when recalling the powers he wielded as military head of state during his military regime, Tribune reports.

Premium Times reports that Buhari while speaking during an interview on the NTA, said he was unhappy with the democracy’s slow method of justice.

“When I came in uniform, I collected those who were leading, took them to Kirikiri (Maximum Security Prison) and told them they were guilty until they could prove themselves innocent," the president said.

Buhari said the democratic system of justice which is supposed to be more accountable, is too slow for his liking. The president, however, noted that he is bound to follow the system of justice under the democratic system.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, December 17, said that he would not allow anyone to use his name to campaign for votes so as to compromise the 2023 presidential election.

The president said this when he was paid a visit by Secretary to Federal Government (SGF) Boss Mustapha alongside his aides to celebrate the Nigerian leader's 77 birthday.

He promised Nigerians that he will give them free and fair general elections in 2023.
