Family of 8 die as gas cylinder explodes in Katsina

- A gas cylinder explosion has claimed the lives of eight people in Katsina

- The victims were three married women and their five children

- One of the deceased, Maryam Shuaibu had visited the town from Abuja to attend a wedding ceremony

Eight people have reportedly lost their lives in Dan Musa town of Danmusa local government area of Katsina state.

The incident occurred when a gas cylinder exploded in the process of cooking.

According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred at about 5 pm on Saturday, December 14.

The deceased are family members. The victims were three married women and their five children.

One of the deceased, Maryam Shuaibu had visited the town from Abuja to attend a wedding ceremony and was staying in the house as a guest of the other victims.

Not long ago, a gas cylinder exploded at the Four Point By Sheraton Hotel, Oniru in Victoria Island Lagos on Wednesday, December 4.

The incident is reported to have caused varying injuries to at least three people. According to the newspaper, the explosion occurred at about 12:35 pm.

Some artisans were doing welding job inside the hotel premises when the incident occurred. One of the cylinder hoses brought by the welders was reported to have leakage.

This consequently triggered the explosion. Several vehicles in the premises, room windows and other items were shattered.

Legit.ng had also reported that following a gas explosion in Lagos on Thursday, November 28, four people lost their lives while 23 were injured.

This was disclosed by Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu, director-general Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

“Further investigations revealed that the fire ignited as a result of a call being made by an unidentified resident which escalated to other nearby shops and a bungalow behind the shops.
