National Assembly on lock-down as Buhari presents 2020 budget

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to present the 2020 budget at the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 8.

The Nation reports that the National Assembly is currently under tight security as the president is expected to lay the budget before a joint session at the House of Representatives Chambers.

It was gathered that security operatives at the complex have taken over the entrance of the National Assembly.

Also, journalists and staff of the National Assembly who did not carry an official tag are also being turned back.

Lawmakers had last week increased the total estimated expenditure from N10.002 trillion to N10, 729.4 trillion.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the presidency had announced that President Buhari is expected to present the 2020 budget to the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 8.

The president had on Monday, October 7, chaired an extra-ordinary Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
