Ganduje wins, defeats PDP's Abba at election tribunal

- Election petition tribunal sitting in Kano state has affirmed the victory of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje

- INEC had declared Ganduje the winner of March 9, governorship election in the state

- The PDP's candidate, Abba Yusuf, petitioned the tribunal to upturn Ganduje's victory and declare him the winner of the election

The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Kano state has affirmed the victory of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Legit.ng reports that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abba Kabir Yusuf, had petitioned the tribunal over the declaration of Ganduje as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The three-man tribunal led by Justice Halima S. Muhammad, had on September 18, reserved judgment, saying it would communicate the date for the delivery of judgement to the parties involved.

One of the aides to Governor Ganduje, who took to his twitter page @dawisu to congratulate his boss, said free and compulsory education has come to stay in Kano state by the tribunal's judgement.

He wrote: "Free and compulsory education has come to stay in Kano State. Congratulation to the good people of Kano State. Congratulations my Governor my boss H.E

"Our victory at the tribunal. It is indeed a confirmation that despite the barrage of insults and negativity from a select few, when God is on your side, nothing else matters & victory is assured."

At the last hearing, the counsel to the INEC, Ahmad Raji (SAN), while adopting his final written addresses, prayed the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit.

Legit.ng had reported that Raji said that INEC was straight forward in discharging their duty on the objection to the exhibit tendered to the tribunal, the only latitude on the petitioner was to tender certified true copy to the tribunal.
