Former Super Eagles defender and coach Augustine Eguavoen has been appointed as the new technical director of Slovenian second division side NK Drava Dakinda.

Before his new appointment, Augustine Eguavoen was coaching Zakynthos football club of Greece.

NK Drava Dakinda which is a second division club has three Nigerian players playing for them and they are Temitope Nelson, Mathias Fanimo and Simon Abutu Oduh.

President of the Slovenian club is also a Nigerian in person of Emmanuel Akpakwu who is said to have masterminded the move to have Eguavoen.

Eguavoen was a member of the Nigeria squad that qualified for the country's first ever World Cup in 1994, and won the African Nations Cup in the same year.

He began his coaching career in Malta with Sliema Wanderers and was given the job for the 2000–01 season where he guided the club to a 2nd-place finish.

The 53-year-old began his career with ACB Lagos in his native Nigeria and some impressive performances gained him a move to Gent in 1986.

Austin went on to play for K.V. Kortrijk, CD Ourense, Sacramento Scorpions, Torpedo Moscow and finished his career in Malta with Sliema Wanderers.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo reportedly completed a permanent move to Spanish football giants Leganes from Premier League side Chelsea.

According to the latest report by Marca, Dimitris Siovas who plays as a defender for Leganes confirmed the information that Kenneth Omeruo has signed for the club.

The report added that Omeruo will sign a contract until 2024 and Leganes are expected to pay Chelsea a transfer fee in the region of 4.5 million euros.
