Police IG has to withdraw orderlies from pastors, lawmakers - Ex-AIG Aisabor
- A retired Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of police, Ambrose Aisabor, wants all orderlies withdrawn from National Assembly members and pastors
- Aisabor argues that the 109 senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives cannot all have police aides while Nigerians complain of shortage of law enforcement officers
- The former police boss says as a Christian, he has never read that Jesus went about with security agents
A retired police chief, Ambrose Aisabor, on Saturday, July 6, urged the Inspector-General Mohammed Adamu to immediately withdraw police orderlies from Nigerian pastors and lawmakers at the National Assembly.
Aisabor, a retired Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of police, asked Adamu to ensure that only principal officers of the National Assembly get such orderlies henceforth.
Daily Trust reports that the former police chief said this while reacting to the recent video clip which exposed a Nigerian senator, Elisah Abbo, assaulting a woman in the presence of mobile policemen thought to be attached to him.

Aisabor said: “I know what the senator did was wrong but the unfortunate thing is that there were two policemen in the video. Why is the police authority giving senators policemen?
“The people that are entitled to police security are the principal officers, in this case; the Senate president, deputy Senate president, speaker and deputy speaker.”
According to him, Nigerians cannot be complaining about inadequate police personnel while the 109 senators and 360 House of Representatives members continue to parade law enforcement agents.
Aisabor further urged the IGP to withdraw orderlies attached to some of the popular clergymen in the country so they can augment the shortfall of police personnel currently being complained about.
“If you look at the whole country, almost all pastors in different churches have convoy with police officers. I am a Christian, I did not read it in the Bible that Jesus Christ had police orderlies,” he said.
Legit.ng earlier reported how the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) recently detained embattled Senator Elisha Abbo following his attack on a woman at a shop recently.
Senator Abbo’s detention comes hours after he publicly apologized to his victim and Nigerians for his act that resulted in wide condemnation.
