Elections 2019: We have evidence to upturn Masari’s victory - PDP governorship candidate

- Katsina state chapter of the PDP has said it has sufficient evidences to challenge the governorship election result declared by the INEC

- The PDP said that result by its agents across the state were in contrary with what the electoral commission declared

- The party said it will through legal means get the mandate that was "stolen" by the APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina state has said there are enough evidences in its possession to challenge the result of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that declared the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate, Aminu Masari, the winner of the state’s governorship election.

The party’s governorship candidate, Senator Garba Yakubu Lado, said the evidences will be used through legal processes to seek redress and reclaim the “stolen” mandate by the APC in the state, Daily Trust reports.

Lado said the result declared by the electoral commission in the state was not true while he asked his supporters to be law abiding, patient for change, and allow peace to reign.

The PDP’s governorship candidate said that the results they got from their various party agents across the state were quite different from the ones declared.

He said: “I’m optimistic of victory and will get it using legal means."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that (INEC) declared Governor Aminu Masari as winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Katsina state.

The returning officer for the governorship election, Professor Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, vice chancellor of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, said that Masari polled 1,178,864 votes to defeat PDP’s Senator Yakubu Lado, who scored 488,621 votes in the election.

He said that the state had a total of 3.2 million registered voters.
