Lionel Messi and Suarez also combined well three minutes later to beat Lyon defense, but goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was brilliant to deny them.

Lyon's got their best chance towards the end of the first half when Moussa Dembele made a good run from the midfield and delivered an excellent pass for Traore who was unable to beat Marc Stegen.

Another chance came for Lyon in which the home fans had stood up to celebrate, but Moussa Dembele was ruled offside and the first half ended goalless.

There were many chances for both teams in the second half only that these two sides could not find the back of the net as the match ended 0-0.

Barcelona will now have the advantage over Lyon in the second leg match at the Camp Nou as they will be playing in front of their fans.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Barcelona fans seem unsatisfied with Lionel Messi over the weekend despite scoring the only goal that helped them beat Real Vallodolid in one of the La Liga matches.

The Argentine failed to double his side's lead in the 85th minute after shooting their second penalty kick of the match off target.

Though, the Catalans have opened a seven point gap over second-placed over Atletico Madrid, the club's supporters faulted Messi's approach to the game.
