We have both been through a lot together - Waje speaks on friendship with Omawumi

In the Nigerian entertainment industry, there are a lot of people struggling to make it and maintain the spotlight while doing the similar vocations; be it music, acting or other forms. Hence, there tend to be some sort of unhealthy competition amongs them, making it difficult for real friendship to blossom.

Standing tall and proud in the midst of all this is the strong bond between popular Nigerian singers, Waje and Omawumi. The two beautiful women have been friends for a few years now and from all indication, that friendship only seems to be growing stronger.

Speaking about their relationship, Waje revealed in an interview with Sunday Scoop that Omawumi has proven to be a true friend. According to her, they have been through a lot together and both understand each other well.

Speaking in the interview about their relationship, she had this to say:"When you meet someone who you shares the same tastes with and reasons alike with you, then you have every reason to be close to the person. We have both been through a lot together and she has proved to be a true friend time and again.

Apart from music, we do a lot of things together and we understand each other so well. She is someone I can call a true friend. I actually have a media company that is into movies, and it is in partnership with her. You will hear more about it as time goes by,”

She went on to add:“People are inspired by different things. You don’t have control over another person’s creative process. Meanwhile, this phenomenon is not peculiar to Nigeria; music is changing all over the world.

However, there will always be people of like minds and when all of you speak in one voice, it is easier to effect change. There are a lot of women that create music that is impactful and drives a certain narrative into the new Nigeria that we are trying to build."

While it is beautiful what Waje and Omawumi have, the same cannot be said for fellow singers, Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage. The two who have been at each other since an OAP stated that Alade was a better singer than Savage, have carried on with the beef.

In the latest episode, the two engaged in throwing major sub at each other in the quest for whose bum is real, bought or photoshopped.

While some people enjoy the drama, others hope they reconcile soon and focus on making good music together.
