United boss is said to have made inquiries for England World Cup star Harry Maguire as Leicester could demand a record £60 million for him.

United chief Ed Woodward is working on moves for Maguire and Tottenham centre-half Alderweireld.

Having suffered limited playing time last term, the 22-year-old has made it clear he wants to leave Old Trafford, and United have slammed a price tag of £60 million on their star player — but not to a rival.

Martial left the team's preseason camp in the United States to be with his wife as they welcome their new child earlier this week as the baby arrived on Thursday, July 26.

However, with his move, he seems to have played his last game for the Red Devils as the manager was said to be angry with him.

The Mirror however reported that Leicester City have revealed they have no interest in selling Maguire, who they picked up from Hull for £17m.

And that could leave Alderweireld as United's best hope of the two targets.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United are set to trigger a £25 million release clause for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, Manchester Evening News reports.

The 28-year-old's contract is due to expire in less than 18 month and Tottenham could look to sell their star centre-half at the end of the campaign.

With no agreement over fresh terms forthcoming, Alderweireld is set to move on as the Red Devils are expected to make an offer for the Belgian international.
