Nigerians get thrown out of hotel in China

A video has emerged online, showing some Nigerians stranded on the streets of China, after being ordered to leave a hotel.

It is not clear, what exact city in China the incident occurred; however, in the video, the stranded Nigerians can be seeing complaining about the situation to a Nigerian man who appears to be an official.

He claims to be a businessman who had been in China for two years and had just come into that particular city the previous night.

The official is then heard explaining to the stranded Nigerians that the instruction came from the local government and that a complaint had been lodged with the Nigerian mission in China.

Meanwhile, previously reported that the Presidency debunked claims that over 2,000 Nigerians were languishing in China prisons.

The special assistant to the president on foreign affairs and diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the number of Nigerians in Chinese prisons was less than 500.

Speaking at an international seminar on Nigeria-China relations in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa said the Nigerians were detained in prisons for various offences.
