Breaking: President Buhari orders return of Nigerians stranded in Russia

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that Nigerians stranded in Russia be repatriated to the country.

According to The Cable, the president gave this order on Monday, July 16.

According to Garba Shehu, who is the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, the president directed Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs; and Hadi Sirika, minister of state for aviation, to commence the process of repatriating the Nigerians.

It will be recalled that no fewer than 80 Nigerians are currently seeking help to return home from Russia after being stranded in the European country. Mostly men, are seated on a blue mat in front of the country's embassy in the European country.

Legit.ng gathered that most of them claimed they came to Russia as volunteers but according to findings, they came to Moscow in search of greener pasture.

A representative of the volunteer organisation 'Alternativa', Oleg Melnikov, revealed that they came to find work in Russia, but were deceived and now can not return back.

He further explained that Nigeria's return tickets were canceled on arrival in the Russian Federation, adding that the number of Nigerians in the same dilenma may be several times more that the number in this report.

During this World Cup period, countless number of Nigerian girls have been forced into prostitution after being promised jobs in the European country.
