Premier League champions Manchester City have announced the £60m signing of Algeria international Riyad Mahrez from rivals Leicester City.

The 27-year-old Riyad Mahrez now becomes Manchester City's first signing since the Citizens won the 2017/18 Premier League title.

In January this year, Rihad Mahrez wanted to force a move to Manchester City, but Leicester Ciy chiefs refused to give an approval, and now that he has joined the Etihad club, he will have the chance to play in the Champions League next season.

Manchester City confirmed the signing of Rihad Mahrez via their official social media handle.

Mahrez was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year during Leicester's surprise Premier League triumph in 2015-16, and leaves the club having scored 48 goals in 179 appearances.

He began his career as a youth player for French club AAS Sarcelles and later turned professional in 2009 with Quimper where he played for only one season before moving to Le Havre.

In January 2014, Mahrez signed for English side Leicester City helping them win the Championship and promotion to the Premier League at the end of his first season.
