Police arrest 3 suspected kidnappers in army camouflage uniform (photo)

Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers; Henry Omenihu, Paul Chituru and Henry Bright who reportedly operate in army camouflage uniform.

The commissioner of police in Osun state, Fimihan Adeoye, paraded the three suspects at the police command headquarters in Osogbo, capital of Osun state on Saturday, June 2, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathered that the police boss explained that the suspects kidnapped Kayode Agbeyangi and Oyeyemi Obafemi along Ilesa/Ibadan expressway on 14th of April, 2018.

He said the victims were traveling on the highway when the suspects shot the tyre of their Toyota Camry car. As a result, the car stopped and the suspects who clad in army uniform forced the occupants of the car to come out.

"The occupants of the car wanted to change the tyre of the car and continue their journey. That was how the suspects who dress in army uniform came out from the bush and kidnapped them,” he said.

The suspects kept their victims in captivity for four days and eventually collected a ransom of two million naira from the relations of their victims before the two persons were released.

The CP said the suspects collected the ransom at Emuoha, River state.

He added that one AK47 rifle with the double magazine fully loaded with ammunition and four pairs of army camouflage uniforms were recovered from the suspects.

Adeoye said the matter is still under investigation and that the suspects would be charged to court after the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom police command has begun a manhunt for the abductors of three female students of Obong University, Obong Ntak, Etim Ekpo local government area of the state.

Witnesses said some hoodlums stormed the female hostel of the university in the early hours of Friday, June 1, and abducted the students.

DSP Macdon Odiko, the police public relations officer in Akwa Ibom, said the police rescued one of the female students who sustained an injury during the raid.

The police spokesman in the state said they were yet to effect an arrest in respect of the abduction, promising the command was doing everything possible to rescue the girls unhurt.
