Emulate Canadian doctors by protesting Senators’ high salary - Nigerians blast Ben Bruce
Ben Bruce, Senator representing Bayelsa east, said on Thursday, March 9, via his Twitter handle, @benmurraybruce, that while Nigerian doctors are protesting meagre salaries, their Canadian counterparts are protesting for being paid “too much”.
Bruce said Nigeria cannot pay its doctors well “but we can budget ₦1.1 billion to clean a government office”.
Read his tweet: “At a time Canadian doctors are protesting that they are being paid too much (your eyes don't deceive you), doctors in Nigeria are on strike for not being paid enough. We can't pay our doctors well, but we can budget ₦1.1 billion to clean a government office. Which way Nigeria?”

However, the senator’s statement did not go well with most of his followers.
While some of them accused him of being part of the plight of the medical doctors in Nigeria, a few others applauded him for speaking “common sense” but ask him to pass the message to his colleagues in the Senate.
They asked Senator Bruce and his colleagues at the Senate to emulate the action of the Canadian doctors and protest their high pay.
According to Shehu Sani, the lawmaker representing Kaduna central senatorial district, Nigerian Senators are collecting 13.5 million monthly, apart from their monthly salary.

Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Bruce slammed President Muhammadu Buhari over an alleged offer made by the president to help neighbouring country, Ghana, fight corruption.
Bruce, referring to the recent report by Transparency International on corruption in Nigeria, said the Buhari administration should focus more on combating the terrorism in Nigeria first.
The senator, who made this statement on his Twitter page, also accused the presidency of fighting opposition instead of corruption.
