Group declares support for Atiku's 2019 presidential ambition

Former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has won another massive support ahead of the 2019 general election as he seeks to take over from Muhammadu Buhari

The Fast Forward Nigeria (FFN) said it is supporting Atiku’s ambition to rule the country as well as his warning and suggestion concerning the need to restructure the country.

The FFN said the former vice president’s suggestion on restructuring was the only way for national cohesion.

Orkuma Hembe, the convener of the group, at a press conference in Abuja, emphasised that the Nigerian political space needs to be restructured in order to douse the plethora of agitations around the country.

“The Fast forward Nigeria initiative shares in very strong terms these views and opinions. It is worthy of note, that a prominent voice from the northern part of Nigeria has added his voice to this all important agitation.

“He was once a lone voice in the wilderness but today we are encouraged and inspired as more well-meaning Nigerians continue to lend their support and queue behind this visionary Nigerian with great foresight," Hembe noted.

The FFN said it believes the active involvement of Alhaji Atiku in the current restructuring agitation is commendable adding that there could be no better time as now, for egos to be shelved, personal interests abandoned, political interests set aside and patriotism enthroned.

The group which wondered why it took Asiwaju Bola Tinubu sometime to speak out in favour of restructuring also criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for kicking against the issue.

The FFN described Atiku as a man whose commitment to national development is based on deep rooted patriotism.

“Nigeria today wallows in helplessness and hopelessness, wherein nothing seems to be working; our economic numbers are simply not adding up, unemployment rate has tripled, the cost of living is unbearable, crime rates are on the rise and scorching poverty prevails among our people.

“Any Nigerian encouraging us as a people to hold on the status quo will be doing a great disservice to us as a nation.
