- He rules his people back in Ghana via Skype

- He moved to Germany in 1970 before he became a monarch

A Ghanaian king has an occupation in faraway Germany that would raise eyebrows and shatter expectations, he is a full-time mechanic.

68-year-old Céphas Bansah is king of more than two million Ewe people across Ghana and Togo who consider him a "superior and spiritual chief."

However, because he lives in Germany where he moved to in 1970, he rules over his people by Skype.

King Bansah grew up in Ghana but moved to Germany after his grandfather, who was king at the time, urged him to train as a mechanic.

He eventually settled in Ludwigshafen, gained German citizenship and established his own garage.

He led a quiet life until 1987 when his grandfather, the King of Hohoe, died. The Ewe people considered his father and eldest brother unfit to rule because they were left-handed and therefore "unclean."

Consequently, he was chosen as his grandfather's successor as king. However, he chose to live in Germany and visits Ghana up to eight times every year.

King Bansah lives with his wife, 58-year-old Gabriele Bansah, their son Carlos and daughter Katharina in Germany.

He fund raises and makes his own contributions towards projects for his people back in Ghana.
