I Do Not Need 40 Man List - Keshi

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Stephen Keshi, has made it known that he will not be announcing a 40-man squad, for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Brazil.

The former Mali and Togo boss, says that a large number will only result in distraction.

“I don’t need a 40-man squad. I just need a number that will not distract us from what we want to do but it won’t be up to 40,” Keshi told Kickoffnigeria

Keshi also left the door open for some of the players, that featured in the bronze-winning CHAN squad and says he could select up to five of them for the World Cup.

“I have from one to five players from this [CHAN] team that will be in that team.

“Everybody will have equal opportunities to get in the team that goes to the World Cup, so everybody will have to work hard.

“They were great. People don’t realize how hard these boys worked. But they gave everything and I’m proud of them,” he concluded.

Nigeria will face Mexico in a warm up match against on March 5 in Houston, Texas
