According to the data released by Ballon d’Or organisers, the 28-year-old amassed 1,380 votes, placing him ahead of every competitor and etching his name alongside football’s legendary winners, Sports Bible reports.

For PSG fans, this victory feels like the crowning moment of a project years in the making, and for Dembele, it represents the pinnacle of his redemption following injury-plagued seasons earlier in his career.

Yamal fights until the very end

For Lamine Yamal, second place was bittersweet for the Barcelona youngster but still monumental.

According to Daily Post, the 18-year-old Barca prodigy secured 1,059 votes, falling just short of becoming the youngest Ballon d’Or winner in history.

Despite missing out, Yamal’s performances have been nothing short of sensational, helping Barcelona lift the La Liga title and Copa del Rey alongside Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Premier League players rated poorly

While the Ballon d’Or race was dominated by Dembele and Yamal, the Premier League had a relatively quiet showing, with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who spearheaded the Reds’ title-winning campaign, finishing fourth with 657 votes.

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer earned a respectable 211 votes to claim a top-10 spot, further showcasing his talent among the world’s best players.

Elsewhere, Harry Kane finished 13th after a strong year with Bayern Munich, while Arsenal’s new striker Viktor Gyokeres finished 15th, reflecting his importance to the Gunners’ attack after joining from Sporting Lisbon.

Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr., runner-up in 2024, dropped to 16th, a sign of Los Blancos’ inconsistent season, while Robert Lewandowski landed in 17th despite playing a crucial role in Barcelona’s domestic victories.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Dembele exchanged pleasantries with teammates surrounding him and also Lamine Yamal before going up on stage to receive the award from Ronaldinho in a video shared online.
