The pair are said to be best of friends, sharing a strong bond even as they prepare for high-stakes international competitions.

Echegini has been impressive since she joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Women in January 2024, after signing a three-year contract from Juventus.

Meanwhile, Alozie’s infectious personality and leadership have made her a cornerstone of the Super Falcons’ defence.

She received a hero’s welcome upon her return to her base in the United States, having won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

The Nigerian-American defender played a key role in helping the team to their 10th continental title in Morocco.

She shone at the tournament, clinching a 2-1 victory over South Africa in the semifinals with a spectacular 93rd-minute long-range goal.

The star was named to the CAF Best XI alongside teammates Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Upon their return to Nigeria, the players were celebrated with a grand reception, with President Bola Tinubu awarding each player $100,000, a house, and the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), per State House.

Back in the U.S., Houston Dash marked her return with celebrations at the Shell Energy Stadium, where fans and her club lauded her WAFCON heroics.

Bay FC hail Asisat Oshoala

Legit.ng earlier reported that National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Bay FC have paid tribute to Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala following her role in Nigeria’s successful campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The 30-year-old forward was honoured in front of fans at PayPal Park ahead of Bay FC’s clash against San Diego Wave.
