In the 13th minute, Bayindir failed to deal with Declan Rice's corner, allowing Calafiori to nod home. Manchester United protested a foul on the goalkeeper, but it was waved off.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made a series of excellent saves to keep the Red Devils out, turning away three shots from one United debutant, Matheus Cunha and scrambling to his left in the second half to keep out a goalbound effort from another, Bryan Mbeumo.

With this result, the Gunners have now managed six straight wins over their rivals. United had 22 shots in comparison to Arsenal’s nine, and dominated possession to the tune of 62 percent, but ultimately their lack of a killer edge at the front was their undoing, per BBC.

Arsenal will be pleased with how their defence came to the fore and continued to show how dangerous they can be from set pieces.

"Ruben Amorim is not a good coach. His formations and tactics are not going to work at Man Utd. I’ve been saying this forever. He plays a defensive setup that limits the players. Every top team will dominate United again this season, until he’s shown the door!"
