Most fans on social media believe that the French forward has sealed his victory in the race for the 2025 Ballon d'Or ahead of the ceremony on September 22, 2025.

Legit.ng looks at the updated Ballon d'Or top five rankings after PSG won the Super Cup.

Updated 2025 Ballon d'Or rankings

1. Ousmane Dembele

Dembele has always been the overwhelming favourite to win the Ballon d'Or since Paris Saint-Germain won their first UEFA Champions League in May.

The current happenings do not affect him, as the timeline for consideration was from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025, and the FIFA Club World Cup was the last major tournament that would affect this year's voting, as noted by beIN Sports.

2. Lamine Yamal

Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, despite a brilliant season, is expected to finish behind the French international forward in the race for the most coveted individual award in world football.

Yamal won three trophies: La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup, but did not participate in the Club World Cup, where PSG reached the final, even though they lost to English club Chelsea.

3. Raphinha

La Liga’s best player last season, Raphinha, has been overshadowed by the brilliance of his teenage teammate, but he has a strong push for a podium finish after the best season of his career.

The Brazilian playmaker was the top scorer and also provided the most assists in the Champions League last season, even though Dembele was named the overall best player.

4. Vitinha

PSG’s midfield dynamo was one of the nine players from the French club nominated for the Ballon d'Or this season and is expected to have a strong finish. He missed his penalty in the final, but was redeemed by his teammates.

5. Mohamed Salah

Salah, in the course of last season, was touted as the likely winner of the Ballon d'Or, but he faded after Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League. He could replicate his best-ever finish of fifth place again this year.
