Odion Ighalo's six month loan move to Man United have been supported by the club's legends.

On the transfer deadline day, the former Super Eagles star secured a move to Old Trafford from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

On Sky Sports deadline day show, former Red Devils stars Mark Hughes and Japp Stam were guest on the TV show.

And when former striker Hughes who made 467 appearances for the Manchester club was asked about Ighalo's impact into the team, he explained the Nigerian will be physical presence into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team

"You have to be delighted for the boy because United is a fantastic club to play for. If you get the opportunity to do it, not many get the chance to go there.

"I think he’s the type of player that United need, whether or not that’s long-term. I’ve watched them on a number of occasions, both live and on TV, and whenever I do I feel they just lack that physicality at the top end of the pitch – just to relieve tension.

"The other night, when they were getting pressed by [Manchester] City really high in the first half, I always felt they needed an outlet so they could knock it up to a big man who could retain possession for them, resist challenges and bring other people into the game, allowing them a bit of time to get up the pitch. Without that physicality, it’s hard to get out."

Stam added Ighalo will have a better time at united than he had with Watford: “If you’re playing with better players, and hopefully now he is playing with better players, you will get more opportunity to score as well," he told Sky Sports News.

“I’m sure he has got the ability. He wasn’t first choice, but I assume that people have seen him, trust him and know what he can bring to the squad.

“If you have players around you who can play you into certain positions to score, then he’s probably going to score more goals.”

During United's 0-0 draw with Wolves at Old Trafford, ex-United stars Ryan Giggs and Paul Ince talked about the importance of adding Ighalo to the team that has failed to score on a Premier League TV show.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Odion Ighalo became a hotcake during the January transfer window with a number of top European clubs wooing the striker

And at the end of the deadline day, the Shanghai Shenhua striker ended up signing for Manchester United.

But according to reports from Sky Sports, the former Watford star was also being wooed by Jose Mourinho's Tottenham and Antonio Conte's Inter Milan.
