A Nigerian man, Sani Yusuf, has opened up on the tragic armed robbery attack at the Katempe area of Abuja.

The tragic incident led to the death of a news anchor and reporter at Arise TV, Somtochukwu Christelle, who passed away at the early hours of Monday, September 9, 2025.

The death of the 29-year-old reporter threw Nigerians into mourning, as Arise TV management announced that the police were investigating the case.

Sommie: Neighbour recounts Abuja armed robbery attack

On his X page, @saniyusuf said he lived in the same block as Sommie in the Katempe area of Abuja.

He noted that he was the first to be attacked during the armed robbery operation.

The man said on X:

"This happened at the block I live in. I was the first victim to be attacked. Right in the heart of Abuja, man. I don't wish anyone the things I witnessed. When I'm ready, I'll share details for now may the souls of the departed find peace."

My wife is still suffering from it till now. She wakes up every night at about the time it happened and can’t sleep again.

I was robbed twice and I currently live with the trauma till today. Everytime it gets to 1am I can't sleep and I am always anxious. No one is supposed to experience it and talk more of being killed.
