A Nigerian man who planned to travel to Turkey recently shared a harrowing experience at the airport, revealing how his Timberland shoes almost landed him in jail.

He recounted what happened when he reached the security barrier after taking the shoes out of his bag and putting them on, due to the heavy weight of his luggage.

However, he immediately regretted his decision when the security scanner began beeping, as if detecting an illegal object or substance hidden in his shoes.

The man, identified as @horlu_baby, documented his experience in two videos posted on his TikTok page.

The first video showed him at the airport attempting to pass through the barrier but being stopped.

He explained that his bag was overweight, so he decided to wear his Timberlands while putting a lighter pair of shoes in his bag. However, the shoes triggered the scanner, causing panic.

Speaking about the ordeal, he said:

"Guys, because of my Timberland they wouldn't let me go. Guys, may your shoe not put you in trouble. I was travelling to Turkey and my bag was over weight so I decided to wear my Timberland and put my other shoes in the bag."
"As we were about going through the barrier and na so my shoe dey beep, e dey beep and I was like what did I do, it's just a normal shoe, it's just Timberland."

He revealed how terrified he felt, fearing he was about to land in serious trouble despite having nothing to hide.

He also shared a warning for travelers:

"Don't wear Timberland when traveling. I was panicking because I'm like I've not put anything in this shoe, they checked and couldn't find anything. I was allowed to go."
"If you're wearing Timberland and you say you're traveling, I'll advise you to wear flip flop, put that Timberland in your box because it's going to beep and they'll check the hell out of that shoe and you'll be thinking you're a criminal. Especially me, I'm now black again. Thank God for my life sha."

His story quickly gained attention, with many users flocking to the comment section of his post to share their reactions and advice.
