According to her, the boys' parents had made a wise decision to enrol them in graphic design classes during the holidays, rather than the usual academic lessons.

She was impressed by the children's progress, noting that they had only been learning for three weeks and were already producing creative work.

She recalled asking the shop owner if the children were indeed the ones doing the designs, to which he smiled and confirmed that they were.

Her encounter caused her to reflect on the value of equipping children with practical skills that can benefit them in the long run.

She said:

"I saw these kids designing on Corel draw. Their parents made a great choice to allow them learn a skill instead of going to holiday lessons and still learn maths and English. Today, I walked into a printing shop for something simple, but what I saw there shook me. Three young boys. Not even up to 8 years old.

Nigerian mother insists private schools should stop selling textbooks with workbooks inside

"This holiday, while many of their mates are running up and down, their parents sent them to learn graphic design. And guess what? These kids are already using Photoshop. Already creating real designs. In just 3 weeks, they’ve gone from zero to actually producing creative work. I had to ask their boss, “Are they really the ones doing these designs?” And he smiled and said, yes.
"That moment made me realize something: Some parents are thinking differently. Instead of sending their children to another round of “holiday lessons” to repeat the same Maths and English they will still learn when school resumes, they chose to gift them something better a skill that can feed them for life. Because let’s be honest how many people are even surviving today with the course they studied in school? Almost everyone is finding a way into another business, another skill, another hustle.

"So parents, hear me out Holiday is not just for extra books. It’s an opportunity to prepare your children for the real world. Give them skills. Give them exposure. Give them something beyond the classroom. Because at the end of the day, that skill may become the lifeline that carries them farther than Maths and English ever could."

"There is a reason it is called UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION. It spans from Primary 1 to SS3. It just takes 12 years of a young life and is the foundation of whatever future that child will have. We have a lot of Nigerian tiktokers who cannot speak and write the globally accepted language well."
