As reported by Vanguard, residents said the terrorists attacked a residential compound and kidnapped seven family members before proceeding to a neighbouring house to abduct three other residents.

The three other victims are identified as Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa, and Alfred Iriyo.

It was gathered that residents have been trooping to the affected homes to sympathise with the families of the kidnapped victims.

A resident said the gunmen initially did not open fire but began shooting sporadically after leaving the community with their kidnapped victims.

“The bandits came in large numbers and surrounded my neighbour’s house before some of them entered and took away members of the family. They later moved to another house and abducted three persons.
“The house of the DPO is very close to where the incident happened, which is believed to be why they avoided shooting at first so as not to attract attention.”

A community leader lamented that efforts to reach security operatives at the time proved abortive.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, he said:

“The moment I received the distress call, I tried contacting security personnel, but their lines were not connecting.”
