The exercise, which started with an advertisement in national newspapers on 27 December 2024, has the goal of filling 3,927 posts in the ranks of Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant.

573,523 applications were received during the first stage, the Service stated.

CBT to be conducted online

In a signed press release by the National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS revealed the next step to be a CBT to be conducted 14–21 September 2025.

The Service indicated the test would be administered online as part of its "commitment to transparency, accessibility, and fairness."

Minimum requirements for candidates

Shortlisted applicants may take the test at any convenient venue with good internet connectivity, on a laptop or desktop PC with an installed webcam. Mobile phones are not acceptable.

"Facial verification will be mandatory at log-in. The CBT programme is susceptible to movement and noise. Candidates are advised to maintain themselves awake, prohibit whispering, and reduce background interference since these would invoke automatic logout. Fasting and unfastening between windows will be rated as malpractice and could disqualify," Maiwada said.

For exposure to the process, the NCS has introduced an obligatory pre-test exercise, which will be done two days prior to the CBT.

Separate links for the pre-test and the normal test will be provided to all shortlisted candidates.

The candidates belonging to the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also do a separate CBT in a later phase, which does not hold for the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

Customs says recruitment remains merit-based

Maiwada assured that the entire exercise will remain transparent and merit-driven.

He also warned applicants against falling victim to fraudsters.

“The Service does not charge fees or conduct recruitment through social media platforms. Applicants are advised to rely solely on verified NCS communication channels for authentic updates,” he stated.
