Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has fired back at the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the November 8 election in Anambra, over the YPP candidate's claims of insecurity in the state.
The Anambra governor said that the YPP candidate was only in the race to make noise and lay false claims.

YPP candidate berates Soludo leadership qualities
Paul Chukwuma, in his press statement to commemorate Anambra's 34th anniversary, claimed that the state under the current government of Professor Charles Soludo is faced with a mirage of challenges that dramatically contrast with its rich human capital and huge potentials in commerce and industry.
Chukwuma also claimed that Governor Soludo, a professor of economics, who, ordinarily, one would expect, should have turned around the economic fortunes of the state on the premise of his Dubai/Taiwan model, only created a state that struggles with the most mundane of all governance challenges, which is the protection of the lives and properties of the governed.
Soludo allegedly appointed known criminals
He added that in Anambra state, filled with global-quality individuals capable of delivering across all governance spheres, Soludo is either appointing a fraudster indicted in America for wire fraud as a local government chairman, or a criminal as the head of an agency designed to fight touting in the state; adding that till this moment, Anambra government under Soludo is yet to come up with any form of explanation as to why the house belonging to the head of its anti-touting agency was demolished by the federal government forces.

The YPP chieftain also claimed that not only are people not safe in today's Anambra State, but prosperity and progress remain a dream too far to reach.
Soludo fires back at YPP flagbearer
But in an exclusive chat with Legit.ng Anambra regional correspondent, Soludo flayed the YPP flagbearer, saying he only wants to be governor without understanding what governance entails.

The governor said:
"Does economic progress have any other definition than what it should be? So, 800 km of road done by this government within three years, is it not progress? New government house and the Solution Fun City, are they not progress and development? Is the Ekwulobia iconic flyover not progress for the state? So, the 5 brand new general hospitals built under this regime not for development? Okpoko urban regeneration - from slump to haven, is that not development?
"This government trained 30,000 youths on digital skills; employed 8115 teachers, hired 1500 medical professionals and erected a 56-building new government house in about three years. Is that not progress and development? Anambra was created 34 years ago without a befitting government house and governor's lodge. Today, the Anambra government house is a mini city within the Awka capital city.
"People like that are simply daft. That is the way I can describe such people. They're daft - completely daft, and they want to be governor when they don't understand what development means.
Soludo, who spoke through the state's Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, also flayed the YPP chieftain over his insecurity claim, insisting that Anambra, under the present regime, is more secure than ever.
"Well, there's a peer review that came out recently. In that review, Anambra is not even in the first 15 states in the country where we have insecurity. Yet, the YPP candidate says it's not evidence of the restoration of security in Anambra. He is blind, and he hasn't seen Operation Udo Ga-Achi and Agunechemba created by this government through the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, 2025, to restore security in the state.
"Two national events took place in Anambra recently that involved all the 326 wards in the state. One is the continuous voter registration exercise, which took place two months ago; another is the off-season by-election, which also took place in Anambra South senatorial district and Onitsha 1 state constituency. Before Soludo became governor, that was not possible without security hitches.
"Before Soludo became governor, 8 LGAs were under siege. This situation is no longer the case, as the voter registration exercise was held all over the state, including areas where the governorship election couldn't be held in 2021.
The senatorial by-election, which took place three weeks ago, was also held in 70 communities that make up the district, including areas where the election couldn't be held in 2021. These are evidences that security is fully restored in Anambra.
"Having said this, if the YPP person says there's insecurity in Anambra under Soludo, he is either mischievous, ignorant or both. They say he is the YPP candidate; well, I don't even know his name. That means he is not even in the race."
