The civil society organization emphasised the need for public officers, especially those in strategic positions.
As reported by The Nation, the group’s president, Nafisat Bako Waziri, made this known in a statement released in Abuja on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Waziri said the lifestyles of public servants have made asset declarations more important in strengthening the credibility of Nigeria’s anti-corruption framework.
“In a democratic society, public office is a public trust. Transparency in the financial dealings of officeholders is essential to ensure accountability. This is not about accusation but about reassurance and openness.”
The group called on the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to proactively verify asset declarations submitted by senior public officials as part of routine oversight.
CSAFJ encouraged NMDPRA to clarify whether its internal compliance systems regularly assess and verify financial disclosures of top personnel, as a show of commitment to governance standards and institutional integrity.
