In a statement signed on Friday by Mrs Amina Olutayo, Programme Coordinator of Reach Out Africa Charity Initiative (ROACI) Nigeria, the coalition said Hadiza’s experience reflects broader concerns about the treatment of vulnerable women in the justice system.
They stressed that she has shown resilience in pursuing the case despite various challenges, and urged authorities to ensure her safety and access to fair legal processes.
Court ruling seen as key moment
Mrs Olutayo noted that a recent Magistrate Court ruling, allowing a DNA test to proceed, represents an important step in the legal process. She said it could set an example for protecting survivors’ rights in similar cases nationwide.
National call for action
The coalition urged civil society groups, women’s organisations, and legal advocacy platforms to provide legal aid, psychological support, and safe shelter for women in vulnerable situations.
“This is not about political affiliations or personal issues,” the statement read. “It is about protecting the dignity of Nigerian women and standing against institutional neglect. No woman should be forced to choose between silence and survival.”
Hashtag campaign gains traction
With #JusticeForHadiza trending on social media, the coalition encouraged the public to maintain pressure for justice. They called on civil society to ensure that Hadiza’s courage is protected and that the case receives fair and transparent handling.
