South South Muslim Stakeholders Caution Those Calling for the Disqualification of Zainab Musa

South South Muslim Stakeholders Caution Those Who are Calling for the Disqualification of Zainab Musa to Deviate from Doing so Because They are Enemies to Islam, Democracy, NAHCON Act, Including Peace and Unity in the Country.

The said petition written by some groups against Zainab Musa stating that she should be disqualified base on the note that she is not from South-South geopolitical zone - is a mere lie by some rumour mongers. Zainab MUSA is married to a Delta state indigene- this confers on her consanguineous relation to Delta state and by extension the entire south-south geopolitical zone.

Asides Zainab Musa's marital affiliation to Delta state, she has been a registered voter in the state for the past 15 years and has been a committed card carrying member of All Progressive Congress, APC. The south south stakeholders added that Above all:

"INDIGENESHIP IS NOT A CONDITION PRECEDENT FOR QUALIFICATION AS REGARDS NOMINATION OF MEMBERS OF NAHCON! The NAHCON Act 2006 does not say full time or a part time member of the commission must hail from a certain geopolitical zone to qualify as member.

News are awash in the media calling on the president to disqualify Zainab Musa who is nominated to represent south south geopolitical zone in the NAHCON.

The call to disqualify Zainab Musa is predicated on the presumption that a nominee must hail from the geopolitical zone he or she is nominated to represent. This presumption is entirely incorrect in light of the enabling law(NAHCON Act 2006) which established the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. What does NAHCON Act 2006 says about composition of the Commission?

Section 3(1) paragraph b of the NAHCON ACT is quoted hereunder:

"Three full time members and six part time members representing each political zone, two of whom shall be women"

The wording of section 3 (1) paragraph b quoted verbatim above, does not categorically mentioned that a nominee must hail from a certain geopolitical zone to qualify for nomination to the Commission.

If it is the intention of the legislators to make it a condition precedent that a nominee must be an indigene of a certain geopolitical zone, the relevant provision of the NAHCON ACT would have been worded to that effect.

In cannon of interpretation, what is not mentioned cannot be inferred into a clear provision of law. The NAHCON ACT as it is today, any Nigerian can be nominated to represent any geopolitical zone provided the person nominated, inter alia, is educationally qualified"

In one voice accord, South-South Muslims Stakeholders appeal to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on NAHCON to disregard whatever rumours that has been making rounds against Zainab Musa, stating that Islam never supports anti tribalism and that Islam teaches unity and love among ethnicities.
