Why a Comment about 'Lack and Confusion' Inspired a New Mentorship Platform for Nigeria's Creators

SOHR Collective has announced the first physical edition of By Starlight, its mentorship and knowledge platform created to help creators, operators, and professionals navigate uncertainty through practical guidance and meaningful conversations.

Scheduled for Saturday, 25 July 2026 at Café One, Victoria Island, Lagos, the event will bring together five accomplished Guides for a close gathering built around one central idea: helping people ask better questions and make better decisions.

By Starlight was inspired by a simple moment. During a New Year campaign in 2025, SOHR Collective invited people to make one pledge to themselves for the year. Among the responses, one comment stood out: “I want to break out of lack and confusion this year.”

That response prompted the SOHR Collective Founder to reflect on the role guidance plays in helping people navigate uncertainty. They realised they could create a room where people gain access to the wisdom, perspective, and conversations that shape better decisions. That reflection became By Starlight.

Since its launch, By Starlight has hosted four virtual clarity sessions across two editions featuring Gidyon Thompson, Williams Jonah, Favour Abang, and Victor Ndukwe. Each session focused on practical wisdom, honest dialogue, and actionable insights for people building careers, businesses, and creative journeys.

The first physical edition marks the platform’s next chapter. Attendees will experience The Opening Light, guided conversations, audience Q&A, and opportunities to engage directly with experienced leaders across marketing, law, fintech, strategy, and the creative economy. The featured opening session, Building Influence That Lasts: From Creation to Sustainable Impact, will be led by the Managing Director of Dentsu Agyle, Marian Ogaziechi.
