Bank warns against fake message
In an earlier report, Legit.ng revealed that commercial banks in the country have sent out warnings to customers about the rising cases of fake bank alerts, a tactic commonly used by scammers to defraud individuals and businesses.
In statements released to the press, the banks explained that the fraudulent alerts are designed to look like genuine deposit or transfer notifications, misleading recipients into believing they have received money.
Unsuspecting victims often provide goods or services without verifying the payment, only to later discover that no funds were actually credited to their accounts.
