Recognising excellence in public service communication
In his remarks, Adedeji praised Atoyebi’s commitment, professionalism, and creativity in ensuring FIRS’s activities are effectively communicated to stakeholders and the general public.
“Media representation is a critical aspect of public service, and Atoyebi has exemplified excellence in ensuring FIRS’s activities are clearly understood by stakeholders,” he said.
He noted that Atoyebi’s contributions have played a pivotal role in enhancing the FIRS brand and in strengthening its relationships with taxpayers and partners.
A career milestone for Atoyebi
Reacting to the honour, Atoyebi described the award as one of the most important moments in her professional journey.
“I thank my boss, the Executive Chairman of FIRS, the Chief of Staff, and my team members for their support.
This award means a great deal to me, not just as a media professional but as someone deeply committed to projecting the values and achievements of the FIRS,” she said.
She stressed that the recognition reaffirms her belief in the importance of consistency, creativity, and integrity in public communication as tools for building trust between government institutions and the people they serve.
Commitment to innovation
Atoyebi emphasised that the award will further inspire her to keep innovating broadcast media strategies that amplify FIRS’s initiatives.
She acknowledged the responsibility that comes with representing a public institution and pledged to maintain high professional standards while adopting new approaches to reach wider audiences.
Part of a broader recognition drive
The ceremony formed part of a larger recognition programme designed to celebrate staff members whose contributions have advanced the service’s strategic objectives.
According to the FIRS leadership, recognising exceptional staff members like Atoyebi helps reinforce the agency’s commitment to service excellence and inspires others to deliver their best.

Her award also highlights the growing importance of effective media engagement in shaping public perception of tax administration in Nigeria — a critical component in driving voluntary compliance and building a culture of trust in government institutions.
Adedeji’s reforms transform FIRS into a development partner
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is increasingly being recognised as more than a government agency—it is emerging as a partner in Nigeria’s national development.
Under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the organisation has rolled out people-focused reforms designed to improve efficiency, foster transparency, and deliver tangible results for citizens and the economy.
Since assuming office, Adedeji has implemented practical measures across tax administration, staff welfare, and public engagement.
