NEMA Deliver Relief Materials To Chibok Community

'Bringers of relief' from the Nigerian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have intervened again to the part of the country which is in great need. The group of specialists arrived to the infamous town of Chibok, Borno State, to bring succour to the residents.

The relatively peaceful town has been catapulted to the national and global limelight after April 14 abduction of over 200 female students.

The video of relief distribution starts with an interview with the Vice Principal of GSS Chibok, Mr Geldi Shettima, shows the ruins of the school.

Boko Haram fighters have not only abducted the girls, but also destroyed a critical part of the town, where food and other essentials were stored. CAN Chairman in Borno State, Mr Philip Maaji, spoke about the damage caused by the attackers.

NEMA has sent no fewer than three trucks loaded with various types of food and non-food items. The presenter in the video emphasised that the government came to help the local people with "all the resources at its disposal".

NEMA Zonal Coordinator in the North East, Mohammad Kanar, states that it is normal to provide succour to the traumatised community, while the government intensifies the efforts for safe return of the abducted girls.

The relief distribution exercise was supported by the Joint Task Force (JTF) and carried out in accordance with the directives of the Federal Government.

The event attracted hundreds of young men and women, as well as many parents of missing Chiblok girls.

A father of two of the kidnapped students took the opportunity, on behalf of all the parents, to express gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for providing food and other essentials.

NEMA concluded that the operation was successful and went smoothly. The agency revealed that help to Gamboru Ngala, which was nearly destroyed in Boko Haram attacks, is being delivered by its staff.

Other destinations for relief distribution in Borno State include Jakana, Mainok in Kaga Local Goverment Area.

About 4,400 displaced persons in these places benefitted from the distributions.

The similar exercise has been also completed in Gujba LGA of Yobe State.
