We Only Received A Call For Reinforcement And Not A Forewarning - Nigerian Military

The Nigerian military have denied the claims made by Amnesty International that they knew before hand of the attacks and did nothing to stop the insurgents in Chibok.

The Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade described Amnesty's quotes as untrue and unfortunate, He states that the Army got hold of the news only during attacks from troops on patrol.

Those on patrol immediately attacked the terrorists while requesting for more reinforcement, As the reinforcements came from Maidugiri to Chibok, they were ambushed by the armed men who had set a trap for them and it resulted in a fierce fight with many soldiers losing their lives.

He revealed another batch was sent out to keep in pursuit with the armed insurgents but due to a series of misleading information they lost the gunmen.

He emphasized that the Division Headquarters in Maiduguri received a call for reinforcement and not a forewarning as said by Amnesty International.
