As A Minister I Was Poorer - Oby Ezekwesili

Former Minister of Education and co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls group (BBOG), Oby Ezekwesili has said that she was poorer while serving in government.

The former world bank vice president in a series of tweets yesterday evening, urged Nigerians to change their mindset of seeing government portfolio as an avenue to make money.

Ezekwesili started off her service in government during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration as the Pioneer head of the Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit (aka Due Process Unit).

She was appointed Minister of Solid Minerals (Mines and Steel) in June 2005 during which time she led a vibrant reform program that led to Nigeria's global recognition as a credible mining investment destination. In June 2006, Ezekwesili was appointed as the Federal Minister of Education, a post she held until her appointment as Vice-President for the Africa Region at World Bank in May 2007.
